Cal was also among the top-10 teams nationally in passing offense and total offense during his two seasons. Additionally Coach Hamilton installed and developed one of the most dynamic and explosive screen games in NCAA football, including at least 10 plays of 20 yards or more in both 2015 and 2016. Hamilton coached for 14 seasons at the prep level and served as Head Coach and Director of Athletics at Concord High School in the Bay Area for 11 years where he led the Minutemen to the Division II North Coast Section title game in three of his final five seasons including a section crown in 2010.
In addition to a 2010 Division II section title, Concord finished as section runners-up in 2011 and 2014 while reaching the section semifinals in 2012. He finished with a 81-49-1 overall record in 11 seasons at Concord, including a 68-21-1 mark over his final seven campaigns including double-digit wins in four of his last five seasons and North Coast Section playoffs each season.
Hamilton earned Contra Costa Times Coach of the Year honors for all divisions after his 2010 section title squad finished 13-1 overall and capped its season with a 40-37 victory over Rancho Cotate in Oakland’s O.Co Coliseum. Hamilton was runner-up for the San Francisco Chronicle’s Coach of the Year for all divisions in 2011 when his squad returned to the section title game and finished the season 10-5 overall.
